What to do in Mauritius in September
On the night of 8 September, pilgrims walk to the tomb of Père Laval at Sainte-Croix in Port Louis for the anniversary of his death on 9 September, one of the great gatherings of the island. Ganesh Chaturthi is a public holiday (15 September 2026, 5 and 6 September 2027). Whales are still off the west coast until the end of the month. It is an excellent month for golf, walking and long lunches outside.
