Mont Choisy: the villa's neighbourhood
The Villa Mauritius is inside Mont Choisy Le Golf, a gated golf estate on the north-west coast of Mauritius, between Trou aux Biches and Grand Baie. Mont Choisy public beach, the longest on the island, is three minutes away by car. Grand Baie, with its restaurants, shops, supermarkets and nightlife, is seven minutes away. The airport is about an hour's drive.
Mont Choisy is a quiet village between two of the busiest spots of the north coast. On one side, Trou aux Biches and its calm, shallow lagoon. On the other, Grand Baie, the lively heart of the north with its bay, its boats, its restaurants and its shops. The villa sits in between, inside a golf estate with controlled access, which means quiet nights and safe streets for children.
The estate itself has an 18-hole championship golf course, a clubhouse, an equestrian centre, walking trails and a wellness centre. Mont Choisy beach, two kilometres of white sand under filao trees, is where locals come to swim and play football at the weekend.
From the villa you can reach the whole north in minutes: the aquarium and the sunset at Pointe aux Canonniers, the Sunday market at Goodlands, the Pamplemousses botanical garden, Cap Malheureux and its red church, the catamarans that leave Grand Baie for the northern islands. Port Louis, the capital, is 25 minutes away.

- A small cove north of Grand Baie, deeper water close to shore, good for a real swim. Food stalls and a lively feel.
